Any known/reported problems with MQ 6.2.2 QMGRs hanging after extended periods of running without being shutdown/restarted.
Have had reported test servers hanging (2-3 times) and no cause found yet but the only commonality seems to be the test servers are running MQ 6.2.2.
No occurences of such server hangs using older version of MQ.
Possible memory leaks or the like ending up freezing processor ??
Hoping if someone else may have seen this ... as well. _________________ "Truth is ... grasping the virtually unconditioned",

Possible candidates:
"Executing stop connection leads to an access violation in the execution controller and the queue manager crashes."
"Queue manager terminates unexpectedly with FDC AD031001 and error_invalid_user_buffer from adiwritefile."
"Repository manager process tries to access the cache while restoring the cache, resulting in a hang."
"Queue manager hang during define object when an API exit is installed."
"WebSphere MQ hangs after rc=stop from a call to
xlllistenselectacceptandclose"
Unfortunately none apply ...
like I said anyone seen their MQ v6.0.2.2 solaris qmgr's hanging after a few days for for unknow reasons ... low activity . _________________ "Truth is ... grasping the virtually unconditioned",

How do you know the qmgr "hangs"
It may just take way longer than you expected to shut down.
I upgraded some of mine this afternoon. Running mqsi and mqm on the box.
The normal shutdown took between 10 t0 20 mins (mqsi + mqm) (2 brokers and 4 qmgrs)
Using the immediate flag can make it go faster... _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Queue manager is not being shutdown ... applications can no longer connect or access queues. Very intermittent ... problem is reported after server already rebooted so haven't been able to do a warm contact admin yet.
Error logs are not showing any errors before reboot is seen in error logs??
Could be intermittent network errors ... intermittent lots of things but always seems to be with MQ 6.0.2.2 ... thus my open question to the community ... not asking for trouble shooting assistance ... just has anybody else seen this on their mq 6.0.2.2 systems , solaris or any other ??? _________________ "Truth is ... grasping the virtually unconditioned",

How, that must be a Windows shop to just reboot a machine at the first sign of trouble...
Unless you have some very good reason, you should apply 6.0.2.5 (not that this is the problem but if you do open a PMR, that will be the first thing they will want). |

Not quite ... 'test' environment with hundreds of sun blades running solaris zones and multiples of that solaris zones on those blades ... mentality starts leaning toward PC paradigm .
When domain expert not around rebooting a zone to continue testing is not optimal but viable option.
Love the way you guys give a direct answer to a direct question!! _________________ "Truth is ... grasping the virtually unconditioned",

My, question is not really a good one for this forum, which is really more a non-IBM support site ... and very good one at that!
My question is more of a Listserver type of question, I think ... so disregard if you haven't already. _________________ "Truth is ... grasping the virtually unconditioned",
