We have a requirement were client provides a flat file (mainframe data) which needs to be validated , parsed to XML with some business logic. I need your suggestions , if we need to chose WBI or DataStage for above implementation. In what sceneries we go with WBI vs Datastage.Your recommendations are much appreciated.

Usually you use ESB for realtime operations and for message oriented operations or when you want to maintain transactionality.

You should consider using ETL for batch processing and when very large volumes are involved.
