Hi,
We know that by default the MAXCHANNLES and ACTIVEMAXCHANNELS are 100 for a given queue manager.
Our application (MQ client) is trying to connect to MQ server using SERVER CONNECTION CHANNEL.
Half of the times they are not disconnecting properly, its mean the server conn channel will remain active. and after a period of time we run out of channels.
Now,we want to increase the value of MaxChannels and MAxActiveChannels, what can be the implication of increasing the value of increasing that value to suppose 1,000.
Will it add overhead if suppose a scenario where all 1,000's are being used up ?

If the application is not disconnecting properly then you could increase the values to 1,000,000 and you'd eventually run out. Once this happens the application will get 2009/2019 errors.
In an ideal world you should get the application fixed. An alternative is to use some of the techniques discussed here to get the queue manager to handle orphaned connections. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

You might be interested in TCP keep alive or force stopping the SVRCONN channel.
This was discussed in a recent thread in this same forum:

As advised to you, try to address the root issue rather than looking for workarounds. Any leakage whether its connection, memory or any other resource is not a nice thing to have. |
