We have a version 6 z/os qmgr without the CAF that is a clustered with an AIX qmgr. Am I right in thinking I can use the eclipse MQ explorer to use the AIX qmgr as an intermediate hop to administer or see the z/os qmgr?
I have tried adding the z/os qmgr via the intermediate AIX qmgr in explorer but I get an AMQ4032 error.
I’ve looked long and hard on the web for a document to describe the procedure can someone kindly point me in the right direction please?

Try looking for error messages on the AIX and/or z/OS systems. Or messages in the DLQ. That might give you a clue as to what's happening.

Cheers,

I have not used an intermediate QM but I do use MQ Explorer via the CAF. I would assume similar definitons are required.

Did you check whether the queue SYSTEM.ADMIN.COMMAND.QUEUE is defined on z/OS? Pre-V6 this queue does not exist so you may need to define it as an alias queue and point it to SYSTEM.COMMAND.INPUT queue.

Also check the following MODEL queue exists:
SYSTEM.MQEXPLORER.REPLY.MODEL

Refer xxxx.SCSQPROC(CSQ4INSG).

Check the xxxxMSTR address space for any RACF errors.

Do you have MCA user ids on the channels. Perhaps this user id is not authorized to access the command queues on z/OS.

You should be able to create a qmgr alias and get this to work, If you still need more details let me know, I will spend sometime writing on how to do it.
