Is there a written rule that defines how much difference if any can be between what service pack you have installed vs. another client?
I would like to update our current revision to a more stable release but our end customer would like to stay at their current version which is the base install or 6.0.0.0.
I plowed through a few forums but did not find anything, probably overlooking the obvious.
Thanks,

Since clients don't talk directly to each other, I don't think it matters what MQ versions 2 clients are on.

They are not thinking clearly.
Typically older clients will work just fine with newer QMs, and newer clients will work just fine with older QMs. Performance and features obviously restricted to the older of the 2.
So there is nothing in MQ land that stipulates how big the gap can be between old and new. But its the same as any other software: the older the software, the more likely the problems. And running the x.0.0.0 version of any software is never a great idea, especially when there are years of fixes readily available with the most current fix pack. No one says you have to deploy a fix pack the day its released, but if its been out for a few weeks, its probably safe, i.e. tell them to upgrade to 6.0.2.5. _________________ Peter Potkay

Hey Peter, thanks for the prompt reply. Its good to know that I can continue to update MQ on our side, as I am with you on version fixes/updates are critical in maintaining the stability of a product, outside of mircosoft maybe =)
I will see what I can do to get the upgrade as well. |
