Hi,
I know that in WPS cluster deployment manager is the one that does syncronisation between the two nodes , but I also read that Cluster is benificial as you can bring down a node and have maintainance on it.
But if you have to deploy a new code for a project and needs a downtime , but there are other project running on the WPS server which wont accept to the downtime.
Can we do something like , federating out one of the node from the cluster deploy the code on it...and have the production running on one node...
Next day we bring the node ( with newly deployed project code) up and bring the other node down...wihtout having a downtime at all...
Now after deplyoying the new code on node 2 we can bring it up and federate it again in the cluster...
Can this be done.....it it the right approach....Can someone send me a document on this ???
Thanks,
Vineet Chauhan. |

No, you can't do that - to have the same app deployed twice you would need 2 deployment managers. Although this is often done for large website deployments where people run 2 cells fronted by a proxy server, this is really impractical with process server.
You need to think about versioning of your applications and how they can be run side-by-side, there is a document on this on the developerworks site. You can also take a look at the WSRR product which can help you with versioning and deployment of services. |
