Hi,
We have WebSphere Application Server for z/OS (zWAS) working in our sysplex (2 LPARS A and B). A zWAS cluster have one application server on each LPAR. Righ now each server is connecting to each MQMGR in each LPAR (in bindings mode) and we want to use QSG connectivity to have high availability in our zWAS clustering servers. According with IBM manuals, it is possible.
I cannot understand if one QMGR comes down (A), how the the application server running in the same LPAR (A) where the QMGR is not available (A) can connect to the QSG and how the applications executing on server A can retrieve messages from the queue-shared on CF.
Some one could explain me details how can QSG provide to zWAS (all cluster members) high availability? When one member of the QSG (QMGR A) comes down, it is not available, we must stop the application server on that LPAR (A)?

having a QSG does not mean that WAS A on LPAR A can connect to QMGR B on LPAR B when QMGR A und LPAR A is down. You have shared queues not shared queuemanagers.
so if you create a QSG of QMGR A and QMGR B, and if you use shared queues for the WAS application, then WAS A and WAS B can process the same queues. Now if QMGR A goes down, WAS A will no longer be able to process messages, so WAS B has to do all the work.
if it is possible to use shared queues is also a matter of the application design, it's not just a configuration issue. Maybe WAS B is not able to handle messages, that are destigned for WAS A (e.g. because of sessions, replies, ....)

Thanks to answer.
Then QSG does not provide High Availability (HA) for WebSphere application servers on z/OS. Do you know any WMQ configuration on sysplex to provide HA for WebSphere application servers on clusters?
LPAR A LPAR B
Server A Server B both servers on same cluster
QMGRA QMGRB sharing Queue X
Reading IBM manuals, I understand if QMGRA comes down QMGR B provides all the services for queue X then applications running on LPAR A can access queue x directly using xcf services. Is this right?
Both LPARs are available, only QMGR A is down.
