I've got end-users that have done the unthinkable...
They've gone and deleted messages that they need and thrown them away. Now they're asking how to recover them, and I don't think there's an easy solution to this problem. All of MQ Series' logs and such are geared to MQ's own recovery. they're not geard at recovering individual queues.
The last backup prior to the issue was a DFSMSdss physical dump of the volume and I managed to get that recovered and then recatalog the VSAM linear dataset only to find that the messages the end-user is looking for weren't on the queue at the time of the backup.
Is there any way to roll forward? Against an offline copy of the data, and then copy out the messages in question? The problem is that this queue s in a page dataset with other queues, and we can't restore and roll forward the entire page dataset. I don't think this is something that MQ is designed to do.
The LOG Replay support pack doesn't offer much in the way of help for rolling forward an individual queue given the logs (which we do have).
