Hi all,
I would grateful if someone can please throw some light on this aspect:
How suitable is WebSphere MQ series for a real time distributed application like a real-time day trading system, given that 1000's of messages (mostly small) can flow in a second between multiple applications and delay of a few milliseconds can make a difference?
Will there be a difference in performance using C MQ API versus .NET MQ API for client applications?

Will raw sockets programming be much better for this kind of an application?

Thanks,
Nitesh

Message Broker (possibly using PUB/SUB and multicast) may be more appropriate for very low latency, very high volume applications, or even other products such as Tibco (dare I mention this here?).

ISTR that IBM recently annouced something in this space that's part of the WMQ familt, but can't remember the name.

What is your criteria for real-time ? A very predicable delivery time distribution, or just generally good through-put? MQ doesn't guarantee delivery time, but it generally performs very well, subject to OS, disk and network capacity. Take a look at the many MQ Performance Reports (in SupportPac link near the top of this web page).
