Hi all
First off, apologies for the question, I have been handed a load of MQ broker work despite only having worked with MQ in the past. One of my priorities is to come up with a DR solution for our config manager.
At the moment we have a config manager running on Windows NT4 on a single machine. If we were to have problems at the site, we would need to be able to get onto another config manager at a secondary site and connect to the live broker.
So first of all, is this possible? From what I have read so far I can only connect a single config manager to the broker without having problems. If it is possible, any hints or tips would be apprecaited.

Yes, a broker can only belong to one config Manager. The broker can be linked to another configMgr only when the broker is released by the existing configMgr.
What you could do is, keep a backup of your configMgr and use it to bring up the configMgr on another system...though I've not tried it personally I might have missed some hidden issues with it

John,
Version 2 of the broker?! THAT is its own disaster waiting to happen.
Back in the day we did use our DB2 backups of the CM's DB to rebuild a new CM with the same name. It worked.
If you upgrade, the 6.1 version of the CM no longer uses a DB. No more DB2. There is a command that exports all the file based defs that can then be used to officialy and in a fully supported way rebuild a new CM.

Do you have a DR strategy for when your old hardware dies and no spare parts are available ? 
....i suggest an upgrade since MQ integrator had end of support in 2006
But until now taking a backup of the config manager DB should be enough to rebuild it..... |
