We froze the mainframe a while ago... and we are now in process of upgrading Windows MQseries from 5.3 to 7 (more like testing to see if its even possible)
We have to have our Mainframe channels for about another year. Will version 7 allow the older channel connections? Or would it be better to go to version 6 on Windows because it will allow those channel connections? I have searched but no one really answers it exactly as the MF is frozen and we cant upgrade it....

Yes, MQ version 7 should easily create channels to older versions of MQ.

Your Mainframe MQ 5.3 is out of support, though, so this is a concern.

Thanks... I know 5.3 is out of support... as is the operating system and everything else on it... it was supposed to be unplugged 2 years ago.. but it is taking longer then the powers that be anticipated (they didnt listen to the worker bees)...

I will try harder to get them to work together... thanks again.
