Hi,

i think i now have a working DRBD and Heartbeat configuration but have some Problems with MQ.

my configuration looks like this:

SRV1:

DRBD0 Primary Device
DRBD1 Secondary Device

QMGR1 (active)
QMGR2 (active)
QMGR3 (actice)
QMGR4 (inactive)
QMGR5 (inactive)
QMGR6 (inactive)

SRV2:

DRBD0 Secondary Device
DRBD1 Primary Device

QMGR1 (inactive)
QMGR2 (inactive)
QMGR3 (inactice)
QMGR4 (active)
QMGR5 (active)
QMGR6 (active)

Example:

if SRV1 failes, SRV2 gets (via heartbeat) the IP from SRV1, gets Primary for the DRBD0 Device and starts the QMGRs and Channels that where inactive before. After the takeover it looks like this:

SRV2:

DRBD0 Primary Device
DRBD1 Primary Device

QMGR1 (active)
QMGR2 (active)
QMGR3 (actice)
QMGR4 (active)
QMGR5 (active)
QMGR6 (active)

now my Problem.

the Destination to which i connect does not notice that my Server, the QMGR, the Channels ... gets down and was then started on another Server. The Channels on the Destination site keep running all the time and starting my channles on the other Server then does not work correct. The Destination site first has to stop / restart everything. Then i am able to reconnect my Channels on SRV2 (the channels that where running on SRV1 before).

i think that there is a timeout on the Destination site that is not triggered because i reconnect on the new Server to fast.

Is there a way to change this without having access to the destination system (some option in my channels to trigger a restart on the destination site or something like that)?

I hope you understand what i mean...my english is not the best.

thanks in Advanced.

Kind regards
Sebastian

Only thing I can think of.. is a script to stop the receiver channel on the other end, connecting to that particular port. And uve got ur PMR's as always if u intend to say that the active/passive setup is not working as claimed.

i again tested something.

after failover the channels reconnect correct but i am only able to send messages over the new connection when the amqsput / get connection stays up.

i cant

start amqsput -> send the message -> close it

then

start amqsget -> no message

but if i

start amqsput -> send the message -> keep it open

start amqsget -> i see all message that i have send with amqsput

in the normal envoirment (without having a failover) i also can use the first way

start amqsput -> send the message -> close it

then

start amqsget -> message available
