Hello All,

We are using message broker 6.0 and Oracle 9.2 in our production environment. Broker and the DB run in two different Unix servers.

Of late we are getting this error "[DataDirect][ODBC 20101 driver][20101]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name".

We could not see any error log in the DB server. We are also looking in to the possibility of network going down momentarily. Just wondering if we need to apply any patch.

Any help to resolve this is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This error indicates that the service (or TNS alias) specified when trying to connect does not exist.

‘TNS aliases’ or ‘service names’ are defined locally to each workstation. Thus different workstations could have a completely different alias to refer to the same database.
