Has someone with insight in IBM some more details on this edition? Maybe an article or demo?
I've had quite a few customers with the needs for a MFT product using MQ and it would be interesting to see what's to be delivered "out of the box".
I sincerely hope this is more functional than the *cough* MQ6.0 file transfer application... _________________ IBM Certified Solution Developer - WebSphere Message Broker V6.1

Looks fairly decent.
However i-Series support would be very helpful. |

Yes, I know that it was not intended for production use. But that still didn't stop the PR guys to advertise it as a new file-bridging feature of the MQ 6.0 package.
Anyways, I'd be happy to see a full-fledged MFT product in the 7.0 release since a lot of customers have been asking about it for ages. I'm really excited about this one and will try it out as soon as it's released. _________________ IBM Certified Solution Developer - WebSphere Message Broker V6.1

Does anyone know how / if this fits with the PM4Data product.
Is this MQ + PM4Data or new software ? |

I got the impression it's not PM4Data, that's already available and marketed by IBM as OEM offering. _________________ Michael

It'll be interesting to know the definition of "Websphere MQ File Transfer Edition Network".
We use a distributed architecture where file-messages are hopped through intermediary Queue Managers (using remote queue definitions and queue manager alias' on the middle-man QM's).
In other words, all our QM's are not on the same network and do not have direct access to each other (this has also made clustering an impractical solution for us).
BTW, the product does sound like PM4Data... IBM should clarify how it relates to that product. |

From my conversations with IBM I have the impression that it is a competitor of PM4Data and designed to take on the likes of Connect Direct. We have a demo day coming up soon so that should fill in the blanks for us. _________________ Keith Guttridge

We are having a session on MQ File Transfer Edition which is a new product developed by IBM in Hursley. We want to see how it compares to other MFT products like Connect Direct. _________________ Keith Guttridge

IBM purchased the rights to ezBridge in 1993 and it later became MQSeries. _________________ Glenn |

I also have a recollection of another product name too but it escapes me. Whilst I was working on the distributed platforms my friends were working on the mainframe. They were two seperate code bases that interacted with each other. It was only in later releases the code base became partly shared across all platforms. _________________ Keith Guttridge
