We have cloned a old sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-1 box to a new sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-2 box. Both these boxes have same hardware configuration.
We had issues in starting the queue manger in the new box.
I tried to start the queue manager FTPPV2.QUEUE.MANAGER but I am getting “AMQ8146: MQSeries queue manager not available” message.
I tried to create a new queue manager FTPPV2.QUEUE.MANAGER, I am getting “AMQ8110: MQSeries queue manager already exists” message.
When I tried to delete the queue manger I am getting “MQSeries queue manager running” message. So I tried to stop the queue manager but I am getting “AMQ8146:MQSeries queue manager not available” message.
Can anyone please advice on this. |

what does dspmq return?
check the /var/mqm/qmgrs/ -> do you have the qmgr folder here...
check the logs /var/mqm/qmgrs/.../errors/
Also check if there are any FDC. There is a good chance of your log files being corrupted. |

What state was the queue manager in when you cloned the server, i.e. was it RUNNING or ENDED?
If you have done a straight clone, the qmstatus.ini file may be reporting a state different from actuality. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

If you do not have that command, I would suspect the cloning...this is not something I am familiar with as normally, I would back up the queue manager, i.e. its objects, to be 'moved', do a reinstall of WMQ on the new server, and recreate the queue manager using the back up. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

My experience is that you cannot successfully clone MQ. You can successfully clone MQData though (/var/mqm).
So on a cloned box you should install MQ and then clone the /var/mqm file system.
Enjoy. _________________ MQ & Broker admin |
