I have existing WMB 6.0/MQ6.0 JMS pub/sub apps (EJBs/MDBs) which use broker for transformation and for native JMS pub/sub functionality. I'm considering upgrading this systems to MQ7.0 in order to leverage the new MQ 7.0 pub/sub capabilities (especially configured durable subscriptions). I'd like the apps to obtain all of their pub/sub functionality from MQ 7.0 but continue to use broker for content transformation. When I implement this scheme will I run into pub/sub clash problems re: native broker pub/sub and the new MQ 7.0 pub/sub functionality? |

I believe the broker needs an update to be able to utilise the MQ V7 Pub/Sub,
I hope someone from Hursley can confirm this as I am not sure!!!
Have you tried a development/sandbox system with MQ V7 and Broker V6 already? _________________ Michael

Not quite true BUT you need to set your compatibility mode to MQRFH and you can't make full use of the new features.
Anyways look at cluster in terms of pub/sub as you would look at the collective in terms of broker pub/sub.

Michael,
I wanted to modify the architecture so that MQ V7 pub/sub would provide all pub/sub functionality apart from the broker (in other words, a "broker-less pub/sub architecture), but I wanted to continue use of broker for these applications just for content transformation. My concern was for a possibly clash between broker/pub/sub and MQ V7/pub/sub.
I have not tried sandbox for a test of WMB 6 in conjunction with MQ V7 pub/sub. Good idea, but I don't have the time/latitude/budget at this time for sandbox on this issue as we are just exploring a possible re-architecture. |
