On distributed the user name is transcoded to upper case when it is sent out, and back to lower case when it is received. If the channel has a msg exit, neither of these is done. There was a bug in an early version of v6 where the receiver erroneously thought that a msg exit was in use, and so did not transcode the name back to lower case. This was fixed in APAR IY81714, released in 6.0.2.0. _________________ MQSeries.net helps those who help themselves.. |

But if you send from distributed to mainframe, the lowercase ID is rolled up to uppercase ... |
This has not been my experience.
A lower-case userid in the MQMD arrives on WMQ z/OS in lower-case. |
Huh. I just tested it here. Windows and Linux MQ 6.0.2.3 to z/OS MQ 6.0. If the message arrives on the mainframe, its upper case, if it arrives on distributed, its lowercase. No message exits in place.
Thanks for that APAR # Nigel. That was the problem I was thinking about that caused us to define the UserID in UPPERCASE as a work around. _________________ Peter Potkay
