Hello,
We are using WebSphere MQ Version: 6.0.2.2. Also we are using WebSphere MQ Publish\Subscribe broker. The broker is part of the MQ installation and it is having the same version as MQ.
We have a client application in which we subscribe to a TOPIC. After we create the topic connection factory we do not set the substore property. So, it means the substore property value will be default to MIGRATE. Documentation does says 'If both queue manager and broker are capable of supporting SUBSTORE(BROKER), this behaves as SUBSTORE(BROKER);'. So we assumed MQ Version 6.0.2.2 does capable of supporting SUBSTORE(BROKER).
Problem we have here is when ever client application exists abnormally (due to system resource failure), then it will not have any chances to deregister the subscribers from the MQ. In this case it some times creates orphan subscribers.
So can any one help us to understand why it will creates orhan subscribers when SUBSTORE option is BROKER? Does MQ Version 6.0.2.2 capable of supporting SUBSTORE(BROKER)? Do we really need to explicitly set SUBSTORE(BROKER)? Is our understanding of SUBSTORE(BROKER) will not leads orphan subscribers is wrong?

| I thought the broker periodically looked for orphaned subscribers and cleaned them up. How quickly after your client ends do you see them? Do they ever go away? |

I see them very quickly. They did not go away untill I clean them manually.

We did not see any failure in channels.
What are the possible chances of channels to get fail?
