Hi,

We have set up the queue Manager cluster in a development environment MQ v.6.0.2.3 on windows 2003 and aix V5.3
There is only MQ cluster no hardware cluster

I have installed the ms03 and generated the qm script

Now we need to Install and configure the same on a test system whose IP address is different.

Is it sufficient to install MQ with the latest fix packs and use the MS03 script change the IP addres to create the quemanager cluster on both windows and aix.Use the reset channel command also to sync the channels

My concern here is that can I create a MQ cluster with the ms03 script because I have used it before to create a single Queue Manager
not a MQ cluster

Please give your comments

Regards

Why would you need to reset the channels in a cluster

If the script was produced from a queue manager that belonged to a cluster, it will include all the cluster objects. Each MS03 script is produced from a single queue manager but there's no reason (with a little editing and some manual work) why the script couldn't be used to produce a cluster of identical queue managers.

If you're trying to set up an identical queue manager as a backup for a clustered queue manager, and then fail over to it by resetting the channels, this is not going to work for a variety of reasons. Noteably because 2 identically named queue managers in a cluster will break it.

Thanks for the reply.

I agree resetting channels is not required.

So I can edit the script and change the IP address. this is for the test env only.

Once successfull we will use the same concept for setting up the production environment
