Hi all,
I have a peculiar problem.
I am trying to pass a huge XML message of size about 6-8 MB.
I am using MQ Visual Edit v0.5.1 beta tool for passing the messages.
when I am trying to pass the file, I am getting the error code "reason code 2030"
I have checked the queue statisticks and found that, it is set to accept files up to a size of 10 MB.
My customer who is there in Germany is also using the same tool of same version, and he was able to pass such huge file.
could you please tell me why I am getting this error and why not my Customer is getting the same error.
Regards,
Harish |

Are all the queues you're using set to allow this size? Including xmitqs? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Hello regonda/Harish,

MQ Visual Edit v0.5.1 beta expired in 2003. Therefore, you are illegally running it. You are either setting your PC's clock back in time or you (or a colleague) have hacked or modified the code to remove the time limitation. In either case, THIS IS ILLEGAL.
You are running illegal software. You MUST IMMEDIATELY remove and delete MQ Visual Edit v0.5.1 beta from your system and anyone elses PCs.
What company are you using this illegal software at??
Note: We will be requesting that www.mqseries.net provide us with your IP addresses you used to access mqseries.net.

I think if you feel it necessary to use such harsh words, it would best be done in a PM.
It is possible that the original poster inherited the software and is using it without bad intentions. It is possible that the original poster would willingly remove this software upon being informed of its status.
In any case, whether the original poster is knowingly or unknowingly using illegal software, reading your email made me very uneasy and has sullied my opinion of Capitalware. |

Hi,
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and flies like a duck then you call it a duck.
As you will note, I did NOT use profanity or call the person names. I stuck to the facts:
- It was time limited to 3-months in 2003
- The user agreement included with said product CLEARLY stated usage
- Using v0.5.1. beta when there have been at least 15 commercial releases of MQ Visual Edit is suspicious and upgrades are FREE
- It is 5 years old and there is a free trial available with many, many more features is suspicious.
So, it is what it is: illegal software use.

I'm sorry that doing the right thing for the right reasons gives you a bad view of Capitalware or me.
I will ALWAYS stand up for my rights, regardless if it is against IBM or some person in India (by his IP address). And I will be clear and vocal in my rights.

I'm with Roger on this. Software piracy is software piracy.
One of our ethical responsibilities is to ensure that software used at our organizations is legal. "Oooops" is not a good defense. _________________ I like deadlines. I like to wave as they pass by.

Please read my first post again. I did not condone the use of illegal software. My objection was to words, tone, approach and the assumption of illegal intent.

Intent is not relevant here. The software is either legal, or it is not. I suppose Roger could have been a teeny bit more polite; but after years of illegal use, one must assume that was the intent.
Software piracy is not a new issue. It was in all the newspapers and on TV. It was a discussion item in business and computer classes, too.
At a prior job I was one of those responsible for software piracy compliance. Each and every violator plead ignorance and no bad intentions. Again, intent is not, and can not, be relevant. The harsh words we used included termination of employment for those who knowingly or unknowingly used or allowed the use of pirated software. _________________ I like deadlines. We, as a group, support the legal and ethical use of software.
We, as a group, support the rights of the intelectual property owner.
All of this is nothing to do with a 2030 reason code.
