Hi, all
I have a solaris box proviously installed MQ5.x and try to upgrade to MQv6. Before I did the upgrading, I un-installed all the previosu MQ Version and all the patchs, IPCS all the MQ and MQM process. clear
all the mq remaining things by "AMQICLEN" comnand, checking two
time with no MQ remian things and process on the box. I still hit the
following error during the installation. What step I miss, anyone have
such experiecne and the ways to solve. Thank
Wilson
## Executing checkinstall script.
A process on the system is using MQ shared resources, you must end
all such processes before continuing with this installation.

Try re-running the installation adding the -v option to the pkgadd command, that should let you see exactly what the checkinstall script is objecting to. _________________ Philip Morten

Were you able to determine the root cause of the issue? I am encountering the same exact issue as you are and have cleaned up al MQ resources (including the removal of inetd MQ Port services) and still am generating the error you described. _________________ RD |

There might be a plain file in /var/mqm/qmgrs. If so, it causes amqiclen to return a false positive that WMQ processes are running; remove the file and try again. This is documented in APAR IY97173. _________________ MQSeries.net helps those who help themselves.. |

If you're running a monitoring product, then there's a good chance it's affecting your installation process. |

Can you expand on that ? If there is a known problem with monitoring products we would like to get some words of advice in the V.7 Quick Beginnings _________________ Philip Morten

Monitoring products tend to have long running agents, that people forget to stop before trying to end the queue manager.
Consequently, either the queue manager doesn't end completely because the agent code doesn't do fail on quiesce... or the queue manager DOES end, but the agent still has an open handle on some of the MQ shared libraries... So that upgrades tend to fail because they can't replace "in use" files. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
