Hi there folks. I've been searching the forums but didn't get any good hits for my question.

Firstly, I'm a WMQ system administrator from way back specializing on OS/390 and MQ 1.3/2.1. I also worked on AIX, Tandem, and Windows just as MQ v5 was coming available.

There is an opportunity (full-speed train) for me to get back into the hands-on with Solaris. I'm not a Unix sysadmin but have worked with AIX since AIX/PS2 days and would ask for some advice.

Are there any Solaris-specific differences regarding admin and support that would require that I get some training?

Thoughts?

Arthur

If you've done admin & support on AIX or Windows there's nothing on Solaris which will surprise you.

read the quick beginings guide for MQ on Solaris once or twice, compare it to the AIX one and you'll be good to go

IBM WMQ and AIX both are from IBM labs...

So you can think of the stability and robustness here.

Tweaking kernel params (and getting the system rebooted) is a bit of a pain in Solaris, with AIX it's a lot easier.
