My customer wants to know if there is a way to check from Message Broker to see if SAP Adapter and SAP is working in both directions.
SAP running in Gemany
MB 6.0.2 running in South Africa, SAP Adapter and MB running on windows machine.
We have seen a few instances where SAP Adapter service is alive and going on windows machine and it is sending data to SAP, but data "from SAP" is not moved at all. We need to stop and start adapter, and then all data flows again. Hence the need to "monitor" on a regular basis that everything is working.
Idea 1: SAP guys does not like this. Create a "dummy" IDOC and send it to SAP and receive answer back every minute - raise red flag if no response.
Idea 2: Query SAP from Broker with command to see if any data in any staging areas in SAP that is waiting to flow out. This sounds better, but I have NO idea what to do to make this happen. Is there commands like this?
Any other ideas more than welcome
Thanks all _________________ If you do not know the answer or you get the urge to answer with "RTFM" or "Search better in this forum", please refrain from doing so, just move on to the next question. Much appreciated.

You should be monitoring the adapter error file.
You should be monitoring the SAP side.
You should be monitoring the adapter output queue.
You should be monitoring the Broker flow that reads the adapter output queue.
All this is best handled "out of band", i.e. with a real monitoring tool and not with a message flow...
The SAP guys should be able to see, better than you, if there's data that should be posted. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
