Hi,

I am newbie to MQ. I am using ih03 to connect MQ server and check / put/get the messages. Recently we've installed MQ on production server and i am not able to connect to MQ server ( MQ queue manager not available ). I checked the port number, channel name and the host name given in MQSERVER env variable and is correct. I am directly loggin in to the MQ server and checking with the MQSC commands. Could u pls let me know what could be the issue with ih03 not connecting ?. Can anyone connect to the queuemanager simply by knowing the hostname, channel name and port no ?. What are the security constraints that we can impose ?

Thanks in advance

If you're getting a 2059, I'd check if there's a firewall between you and the production machine.

Yes.

A search on the forum using "client security" will yield a wealth of discussion, starting with setting the MCAUser to "nobody" and ending with the use of channel exits & SSL.

The Security (and to an extent the Clients manual) also contain useful information.

Happy reading!

And if using a client connection make sure you use RFHUtilc and not RFHUtil....
