We are using MQ Series 6.0.2.0

We have 3 Queue Managers named A, B, C under a cluster named SAMPLE.

Queue Manager A & B host Full repositories, A is the Primary repository & B is the secondary repository.

Queue Manager C is connected with Queue Manager A thro Cluster Sender channel.

This Cluster set up was working fine some time before.

Now we have recreated the Queue Managers A & B ( Full repositories ).

While refreshing the Cluster, we are getting the following error at Queue Manager A's log

AMQ9412: Repository command received for 'A_2008-01-01_18.12.07'.

EXPLANATION:
The repository manager received a command intended for some other queue
manager, whose identifier is 'A_2008-01-01_18.12.07'. The command
was sent by the queue manager with identifier 'C_2002-12-13_18.05.28'.
ACTION:
Check the channel and cluster definitions of the sending queue manager.

We have even tried to reset the cluster from both Queue Managers A & B using the below command

RESET CLUSTER (SAMPLE) QMID('A_2008-01-01_18.12.07') ACTION( FORCEREMOVE )

But i am getting error as , not able to locate the target QMID

AMQ9455: FORCEREMOVE command failed, cluster SAMPLE, target
A_2008-01-01_18.12.07, not found.

EXPLANATION:
The repository queue manager could not process a RESET ACTION(FORCEREMOVE)
command for the indicated cluster and target queue manager, because no
information about that queue manager was found in the local repository. The
command is ignored.
ACTION:
Reissue the command, specifying the correct queue manager name or identifier.

We will not be able to recreate Queue Manager C.

Is there any way to getting this QMID reset. Please Advise.

Were the original queue managers removed from the cluster (as per the documentation) prior to being recreated? Or just deleted where they stood?

Not a good idea.

The Cluster manual ( ) describes the process of removing a queue manager from a cluster so it can be deleted. It's a bad idea to just drop the queue manager, as you've found.

It's even worse to drop both FRs from a cluster.

On which machine are you issuing the RESET? If you've not tried issuing it from C, you should.

Failing that, remove all the queue managers from cluster SAMPLE (following the documented procedure like you're bolted to it) and build a new cluster called WILL_NOT_DO_THAT_AGAIN with the same membership.

Did you ever visit the IBM course MQ25? One of the first slides of the administration unit says Read the manual!.

One of the first slides of the following unit - problem determination - says It's too late to read the manual!.
