Hi all,
I am having problems installing the fixpack 6.0.2.3. These are the steps I have taken:
1) Silent installed MQ v6
2) Checked the install log file and MQ installed without any errors
3) Slient installed fixpack v6.0.2.3, the contents of my bat file:
net stop "IBM MQSeries"
WebSphereMQMDV6.0.2.3EnUs.exe -s -a MQPLOG="C:\WMQBACKUP\WMQUPDATEINSTALL.LOG" MQPINUSEOK=1 MQPBACKUPPATH="C:\WMQBACKUP\" MQPSILENT="0"
4) Checked the fixpack log files and I have the following error at the end:
16:23:53 Total files: 10343
16:23:53 Files to process: 1052
16:23:53 Windows is 32bit Operating System
16:23:53 MessageBox: 'Error installing 6.0.2.3. Examine log file 'C:\WMQBACKUP\WMQUPDATEINSTALL.LOG'. (AMQ4760)'
16:23:53
16:23:53 amqicsdn.exe ending with RC 1603 (0x00000643)
16:23:53
The extract above is from the WMQUPDATEINSTALL.LOG.
I have tried to install the fixpack using the install wizard but it gets as far as "Checking Files" before it gives the error message "Error installing 6.0.2.3. Examine log file (AMQ4760)"
I've ran out of ideas on what is going wrong, anyone had this problem before?
Many Thanks,
Sam |

Did you reboot between steps 2 and 3? _________________ Peter Potkay

Thanks for your replies.
I logged off and then on again between steps 2 and 3, I didn't think a reboot was necessary.
I have managed to recreate the error on another server and I think the problem is that before I completed the install described above, I ran a silent uninstall.
When the silent uninstall ran, an error message popped up just before the end saying "The dynamic link library AMQXCS2.dll could not be found in the specified path...". I clicked on OK, the uninstall finished and I checked the log files for error. The log file confirmed that the uninstall completed.
But, in the start menu, the MQ Fixpack still exists with the option of "Remove Fix Pack 6.0.2.3".
If I do not use the silent uninstall, everything is removed from the start menu and I have no problems reinstalling again. |

I always reboot Windows after an MQ install and prior to applying the support pack. While I can't find any specific doc that says this is necessary, I think you should as a habit on Windows. Need to harden path settings, registry settings, etc. _________________ Peter Potkay

Search the fixpack install log for '***' (and yes, ignore the big banner which is all stars!)... Does anything stand out?
You could, of course, explicitly set the path before launching the fixpack install and see if that helps |
