I heard a rumor (actually, I'm starting this one) that within 2 to 3 years, IBM will announce WMQ V8.

Like V5, V6 and V7, that preceded it, V8 will be substantially the same, yet dramatically different. There will be new and exciting functionality, more of some stuff, less of other stuff.

V8 is rumored to include support for: bluetooth, the soon-to-be-named Java technology replacement, enhancements to IP V7, and messages up to 4-terabytes, and remote MQGET.

If you hear of any other features of V8, please update this post.

thanks.

Wait, you mean IBM is actually going to continue developing MQ?

They aren't just going to say "MQ v7 is perfect. The market will never change, we don't need to make any more money off this product. We're done"?

Who'd have thought...

Next, you'll tell me that there will be a Broker version 7, or a WAS version 8...

I'd be careful starting a v8 rumor. You are probably going to encourage the remaining 5.3 users to wait until v8 to migrate.....

I heard it will have built in support for messages over avian carrier, no more hacking it by using IP datagram over avian carrier:

But IBM is encouraging this! Didn't they just come out with a CSD 14 in December? That was three months after they supposedly dropped support on 5.3!

That's the first time I've ever seen IBM do that!

I hear ya, Jeff. Remember the MQ tech conferences? They were neat. Think they'll ever have another? I kinda doubt it....
