WE HAVE 2 applications 1 on box A and one on box B . Sending MQ generated group messages. The receiver is on box C accepting messages from A and B .
How do we make sure that MQ does not generate the same group id on both boxes A and B.

Take a look at the Application Programming Reference section on the MQMD and GroupID. The bottom line is that WMQ will generate unique IDs.

The first 12 chars of the GroupID are the qmgr name, so if you have duplicate qmgr names in your WMQ network there is a possibility that the GroupID will be non-unique.
