Hi all,
I am planning the migration from the current 3.4 version to 3.6, but the new version will be in another server (both are AIX). I know that the pre-requsites are ok. My question is, Can I migrated the WF from one server to another without deploying every fdl again? is it enough to migrate the databse and the files system from the old server to the new one??
what i want is to copy the configuration that I have in 3.4 to the new server with 3.6. is this posible?
Many thanks in advance |

You need to migrate the database using migration utilties that come with 3.6. Restore the database to the new machine and runthe migration use this new database to create a workflow configuration.
The migration is very straight forward. The installation guide provides step by step instructions to do this migration |

Wait a minute, this can get very harmful!!
The QMGR name, System Name and System Group name are stored in the runtime DB and must be the same on the new box. If your boxes are running in a MQ cluster I recommend to open a PMR and contact MQWF support for detailed instructions about a useful sequence and how to move the MQ repository. If you have a simple MQ setup and do not use UPES on the same QMGR, the following sequence should work:
1. Upgrade your MQWF from 3.4 to 3.6 on box 1 as described in the Installation Guide.
2. Install and configure MQWF 3.6 on box 2 using the exact same values as you used on box 1.
3. Replace the created runtime DB on box 2 by the migrated DB from box 1.
4. On all client boxes delete and recreate the MQWF client configuration.
Note: this holds for DB2 only - not for Oracle. If you have any doubts, contact MQWF support before you run into a dead end street. |
