Hello,

I have read and accepted the fact that the TCP port number assigned to the WMQ is 1414 byInterner Assigned Numbers Authority.
My problem is whether the port number is assigned to the QMGR or something else... I went to the WMQ Explorer and saw the properties of the QMGR and in the TCP tag found that the port number is 1414...but this is true for all the QMGRs...

If I have two Qmgrs viz QM1 and QM2 then how is the allocation of the portnumber done at run time...? does it depend on the sequence of the Qmgr starts...i.e if Qmgr QM1 starts it gets port no 1414 and if QM2 starts later then it gets port no 1415 (this is assuming they are on the same IP ofcourse) ...

I am a bit confused ...and so the question is also bit confusing....please guide...

The qmgr property is (mostly) irrelevant.

The port that is used is the port that the Listener uses. This is started either as an object in MQ, or through runmqlsr from the command line.

So look at "Listeners" in your MQ Explorer.
