Hello,
i need to know how many messages i received on a queue in a whole day.
i have mq version 6 on zos (version 1. . where can i see that??
I have tivoli decision support who use smf records to do reports...but i can't find a table who tell me...the number of messages who pass through my queue.
Someone can suggest me something?
Ciao

Hi,
If you have CAF installed on the mainframe, then I have a very crude method to determine the number of messages received in 24 hours.
Use the "Queue Stats Monitor" of MQ Visual Edit, point it to the queue & queue manager and then run it for 24 hours (make sure "Write data to CSV File" is checked). After you stop the monitoring, you can open the CSV file in any spreadsheet program and sum the "Put Rate" and / or "Get Rate" and these columns will give you a very good but rough estimate of how many messages passed through the queue.
Hope that helps.
Regards,
Roger Lacroix

MQ SMF records should give you this information, if enabled. Types 115 and/or 116. |

if you are just interested in the number of messages by queue have a look at the "reset qstats" command which is only available on z/OS. issue it every day at the same time and you get the messages per day per queue. _________________ Regards, Butcher |
