Do any one of you have experiences of implementing MQ on VMWARE for windows 2003 server? I been asked to findout /research implementing MQ on windows 2003 server. I did not find much entriesin google too. I would greatly apprecaite sharing your experiences on this.

We do it for a few servers. For light weight MQ installs no problem. I would not want to run any server (MQ or otherwise) that had high resource requirements on VMWare. (lots of connections or high I/O or big CPU requirements, etc).

One or two further questions/clarifications 
Can I conclude this as " MQ on vmware is okay for Dev and Test evnvironment but not recommended for Prod" ? Or you put more esphasis on resources side ?
I think my company wants to move it test environmen from windows 2000 to 2003 and wants to investigate whether it is feasible to migrate to VMWARE. At the moment, they are having many queue managers in one box, so the only different they like to have is to pretent that each of the QMGR is in a different box.

Resources.
If you have a DEV box that consumes tons of resources its not a good candidate for VMWare.
If you have a Production box that is used very lightly then it is a candidate.
Your DEV server could be VMWare while QA ands PROD are physical servers.

If you have a DEV box that uses lots of resources, and is filling up the last spot in your server rack, and it will be a year before the room can be expanded to add more racks, then it might be a good candidate to replace with a really hefty new box that runs several vmware images...
Or a better virtualization engine than that...

I understand where can we use vmware and what are the factors to be taken into consider while making decision. These are mostly business decision/requirements. What the some of the technical things that has to be taken into consider while running mq on vmware? I have seen some discussions of having problem of running mq with local account. it is necessary to have mq run on domain account when installed on vmware?

We have had some problems running the config manager on XP under VMWare mostly related to trusted domains.
Our quickest way to resolve these has been to "rejoin" the vmware instance to the domain. MQ and configmgr are running under a local account.

That means that, Vnware on Windows is not much different from the LPAR on AIX( I mean it has all the resources to be considered a machine though it is virtual? Am I correct?) and Zones on Solaris except that the LPAR technology is with us for longer period of time and vmware and solaris Zones are quite new to us?
