'm sure our friend would enjoy having a printed copy of all of the good wishes that get posted to this forum added to his book of retirement letters. |
I don't think the clapping hands carry over as well... and I won't be at the retirement party, alas.
It's an excellent thought, though.
Did you have anything you wanted to talk about, otherwise, Bill? Hmm? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Speaking of retirement, I don't think Wayne is the only one. Does anybody else want to go public? |

Everyone,
There are two times in one's career with IBM when your manager sends out an email to your community and asks for letters of congratulation. The first time is for your 25th Anniversary. The second time is when you retire. |
mine did it when I left ... (my 25th would have been 2 years from now... )
I guess this topic will make it to most popular thread in december, so wayne qualifies for an mqseries.net mug... _________________ Michael

Michael: interestingly, and prior to your posting, the honorary Mug offer had already been made via a direct email to Wayne.
most popular new December post challenge winner category remains open to be won. based on current rules, the posting/submitting party is the declared winner.

Well, thanks for everyone for the kind words and well wishes. It certainly
has been a pleasure working with you all over the past 14 years.
Dean K. is too kind in his post. Although I like to think I did play some small part
in helping MQ get going in its childhood years, it really was the strength of the
concept and product that made it a success. There are so many others that come to
mind that played important roles "back in the day", so thanks to them all as well.
Btw... Mr Bill Mattews also deserves a round of applause. After FORTY (40) years
of service to IBM, he too is retiring at the end of this year. Bill has been a
tremendous help to many people over the years! (My first question to Bill was about
CICS/OS2).
Special mentioned to Jeff L for taking over saveqmgr and the windows trigger monitor (ma7k)
and Bobbee Broderick for taking over the batch trigger monitor (ma12) supportpacs.
I'm sure they'll have lots of fun supporting them.
As for me, my plans are still "fluid". I enjoy carpentry and woodworking, so I might
have a go at small construction jobs in the neighbourhood. But I'm flexible,
so there's a good chance you might run across me again in the near future.
Thanks again and maybe I'll check-in here every now and then. My "non-IBM" e-mail
is: wayneschutz@hvc.rr.com, if any of you want to contact me after the end of the year. _________________ -wayne |

As Wayne has just told the community, I am also retiring - while I may come back and visit MQSeries.net from time to time, it will simply be for pleasure. After all, this is one place where I know I can find some of my "old" friends plus some new ones also. I can always be reached via <cicsos2@pobox.com> where as my IBM email, cicsos2@us.ibm.com, will vanish in 17 working days. _________________ Bill Matthews |
