Hello,
I have a question about the adapter support for Websphere Message Broker v6. Are the WBI adapters v2.6 and beyond still supported for WMB v6??
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=695&uid=swg27006226
According to the above link they might not be.
Also, i hear that Websphere Adapters v6 are going to be supported by WMB v6 soon. I think some of them are already supported(WMB v6.1 has in-built nodes supporting adapters for SAP,PeopleSoft and Seibel). Does anyone know if all the Websphere Adapters v6 are going to be supported anytime soon??
Thanks,

The BI adapters work in MB v6.0 and will continue to work in MB v6.1; also, there's no reason any later BI version shouldn't continue to work, as the adapters simply communicate with MB using a predefined common endpoint (e.g. a JMS destination).
However... if you want to connect with SAP, Siebel, PeopleSoft etc., then I'd recommend using MB v6.1 and the native adapters nodes instead. These are based on newer JCA-based adapters technology, are easier to configure (e.g. you can generate message definitions directly from BOs), easier to maintain (e.g. don't require an intermediate endpoint) and perform a lot better (e.g. they interact directly with the message tree).
(OK, so that last sentence sounded like a sales pitch- sorry. But I'm feeling a lot better now.) |

I recently implemented a project where we used the WBI JDBC adapter v2.6, with WMB v6 , and it was supported by IBM.
The reason i asked the above question was that, i was am not able to find any documentation which says the WBI adapters are continued to be supported by IBM for WMB v6.
By the way, I just installed the V6.1 toolkit, and it looks like it has a lot more nodes built into it. I am still going through them, but it sure does look impressive. _________________ Prithvi |

v6.1, provides built in nodes for EIS, based on WebSphere JCA Adapters.
what (how) is the support for other WebSphere JCA Adapters in WMB v6.1?
like, IBM WebSphere Adapter for JDBC V6.1, email v6.1.....
should continue to use WBI JDBC Adapter, where needed?
Thanks |

Only the EIS adapters are supported. .. as documented on the support site.
Other JCA adapters are NOT supported.
The MQ/JMS based WBI Adapters are not dependent on the version of Message Broker since they are outside of the broker. _________________ Bill Matthews |

You might want to see if MB v6.1 natively provides the functionality you require, rather than through adapters. To pick the two capabilities you mention, MB v6.1 has support for JDBC type-4 drivers (and can be fully XA coordinated), and also has an EmailOutput node.

A JDBC adapter will still be necessary, I believe, in cases where you need to respond to changes in the database without polling. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
