Does that mean we will be able to debug 64 bit EGs? |
Yes, that's fine. On a related point, RAC is no longer used. |

Windows is not 64-bit native, but in v6.1 all Linux and UNIX platforms can have 64-bit DFEs. |
Matt, could you please elaborate the first part? Why is Windows always behind than other platforms? _________________ Kiran

At GA time, MB v6.1 will only have 32-bit DFEs on Windows. As with all features, it's a decision based on relative priorities and demand. If you'd like to see 64-bit DFEs on this platform, please raise a requirement with IBM.
Cheers

It's good that we can run (and now debug) 64 bit DFE's with WMB V6.1 on AIX, but does anyone know if the 6.1 broker is fully "DB2 64 bit compliant" ?
(With V6.0 some parts of the broker must see a 32 bit environment, which involves adding both lib32 and lib64 directories to library search paths...although it works, it then prevents DB2 commands being run directly from within the "mqsiuser" environment shell.)
Regards,
Nick. |

Yes. On AIX the v6.1 Admin Agent is now 64-bit and uses 64-bit database drivers. So you shouldn't need a mix of drivers from lib32 and lib64. |

Many thanks for clarifying.
It should make life simpler...now we can standardise on 64 bit for everything (O/S, WMQ, WMB and database) !

Nick. |

based on prior "experience", I would expect that the downloaded install will come with four "parts", not counting any of the extra stuff.
(references that follow are for Windows)
Part 1 - The Runtime. Take that file and extract it to a directory - name is not that important. Then create a new directory and name it
Message_Broker_Toolkit_V6
For parts 2, 3 and 4 - the Toolkit, extract each one of them into the Message_Broker_Toolkit_V6 sho that they appear as disk1, disk2 and disk3.
Launch the mqsilaunchpad.exe from the first directory. After the runtime is installed, the installer will then find the disk1 and launch an install of the Installation Manager, which then launches the Toolkt install. At the end of the toolkit install, you have the opportunity to launch the Toolkit.
Since I also use some supportpac addons, such as the Transmission Headers, before I launch the Toolkit I go ahead and copy the TH runtime and plugins to their respective directories.
I then let the Toolkit start and once it is up, I run the Default Config Wizard.
Have fun.. _________________ Bill Matthews |

So I'm reliably informed that v6.1 has shipped
Now, I must grab the image and install it myself (I've not actually tried the GA driver yet!)
Enjoy! |
