IBM announced a new version of Websphere MQ for LOW LATENCY message delivery.

http://www-03.ibm.com/press/us/en/pressrelease/22558.wss

(not sure what forum to put this question in but here goes ... )

Anyone - have a taste of this product yet ... does it share any similarities with base MQ other than name. (Installation, administration, etc. ..)

Is there a download ... kick the tires for limited time site ...

Is it out of Hursley or will it be supported by Hursley ...

Was part of IBM Front Office now stand alone ... they say ... pushing as stand alone product, where are they hoping to go with it ..., etc ...

Just looking for feedback at this time ...

see for yourself... IMHO this product has nothing to do with WebSphere MQ as we know and is probably a marketing ploy to profit from the name WebSphere MQ...

just my 2 cents ('til now)

Thanks for the download site,

Yes, they are definitely saying it is part of and extends the WS MQ family of products, that is some serious coat-tailing, if nothing else. I guess WS MQ is becoming (or has been) a subbrand of WS.

Quote:
IBM® WebSphere® MQ Low Latency Messaging Version 2.0 joins and extends the WebSphere MQ messaging family as an additional transport optimized for low latency, high-throughput message delivery. While the WebSphere MQ Version 6.0 product continues as the premier solution for rock-solid guaranteed time-independent message delivery, the addition of WebSphere MQ Low Latency Messaging to the MQ family adds to an expanding suite of transport protocols to address our customers' wide range of messaging needs.

I agree. IBM is apparently using the marketability of Websphere MQ as a lever to jump start anything that falls into their new SOA movement.

My understanding is that this an existing IBM high performance messaging technology based on a multicast approach that is updated and rebranded as WMQ Low Latency. Its mode of operation is very different to MQ as we know it.
