Can you please provide me the MQ trial download link for x86_64 .

I could able to find explicit Fix packages 6.0.2 for x86_64 but not for the base version 6.0.

Also if it is 32-bit application, I guess it should get installed in 32bit shell prompt "Linux32 bash". When I issue uname -a in 32-bit prompt outputs
"Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.9-34.0.2.EL #1 Fri Jun 30 10:22:45 EDT 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux".

The only place you can legitimately get a Trial version of MQ is from the IBM Website.

There should be a link from the Downloads portion of the WebSphere MQ pages to a Trials&Betas page.

There may or may not be an actual trial going on right now. You may not be able to get this.

Talk to your IBM sales representative.

Thanks for your suggestion.

The link "http://www-306.ibm.com/software/integration/wmq/requirements/index.html?S_TACT=105AGX10&S_CMP=LP" states MQ support for X86 and X86_64 platform.

But the Quick beginnings Manual that I found in the Trial download page says MQ support only for x86,POWER and Zseries platforms.

I shall enquire the IBM sales as you mentioned. But I have an understanding like 32 bit applications can be run on a 64bit OS from the link "http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=574408&tstart=15" - ajochems reply.

Also I like to clarify whether only the MQSeriesruntime RPM package is dependent on the architecture as the other RPM packages installs without any errors in my Linux x86_64 env?.

Answer from the IBM trial support :
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
While IBM offers a 64 bit enabled WebSphere MQ product, we do not offer this product as a download trial image. The 32 bit Linux image we offer should run on any x86-64 hardware because those systems support both 32 bit and 64 bit executables.

The error you are getting is related to a problem with getting the password (getpwnam call) (for the mqm id.

you may have some sort of authentication server problem:
Are you running NIS or LDAP to authenticate? If so, verify these are running OK.

Since the root cause is an operating system failure, do any of the system error logs give any clues to the cause of the failure?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Any suggestions on how to check the NIS or LDAP running? /any other ideas from the above ....

The dmesg command provides the following
"amqicdir[8364]: segfault at 0000000000000008 rip 0000000008049866 rsp 00000000ffff0540 error 4" during installation.

Anyone has suggestions on why the amqicdir throwing segmentation fault ?

I have been with this problem for around 2 weeks ....

Now I got a partial confirmation from IBM online trial support that 32bit trial download is not certified for X64 Linux.
