Env: Broker V5.08 on Z/OS using DB2

We have a logger flow deployed to a mainframe broker that inserts records into a series of DB2 tables. When I set Additional Instances to 2 and redeploy, there is no appreciable increase in the rate of insertion. The DB admin tells me there only seems to be activity on a single connection from the broker and the database itself is not stressed. Is there something I need to do to get the extra threads to use additional connections. (I am not that familiar with mainframes)
