Does anyone have any experience using any open source solutions for monitoring MQ? I'm thinking something along the lines of bigsister. Thanks _________________ IBM Certified WebSphere MQ Administrator |

Moderators - do you want to move this to the Monitoring Forum?
flwilliams87,
I've just joined a project that wants to use Hobbit to monitor MQ. I believe Hobbit is the next generation of BigBrother? I think.
Our unix admin is modifying and writing scripts for Hobbit. There are some scripts available already, but our admin is doing quite a bit of customization and revisions.
I have used commercial third-party software for monitoring, and of course I prefer it. But Hobbit seems to be in my immediate future.

Hi Michael,
Yes, that's the Hobbit. This is not the first time that I've seen server monitoring software bent in order to monitor MQ.
I think we will accomplish monitoring queue manager status, sender & receiver status, and queue depths & procs. This will include alerting via pager, also.
But what will be missing will be real-time enqueue/dequeue rates and message traffic history.
I'm trying to adjust my expectations.....
