But, on the fourth day when you look around and the expo is shut down and the number of educational sessions cut down, it makes you wonder why you stayed for the full gambit! |
I don't know about that. At least at T & M 2006, the 4th & 5th days I was scrambling to attend all the sessions I wasn't able to fit in over the first three days, and I had mostly stuck to the message broker track. The BOF sessions I was looking forward to were on those days as well... the only difference was the lack of fancy dinners. |

I did not say there were no training sessions on days 4 & 5, but I believe if you check, there were fewer than the earlier days (not that there's anything wrong with that, strategically).
You also did not mention the expo, so I assume I am correct that it shut down after the third day, as they have on every conference I've ever attended in the last decade. I'm not sure if this is the way the exhibiting vendors want it, or if this is IBM's doing. I've never tried to find out.
As far as meals go, I think part of this is to attempt to provide positive impact on the surrounding eating establishments. Sometimes these details are often worked in as part of the planning of the conference by the providers.
But, I believe it would not be too expensive for IBM to provide the refreshments at certain times between sessions throughout the conference, instead of shutting these down early too; especially with what they are charging for such events. After all, why would they be less needed on Thursday than on Tuesday? _________________ IBM Certified MQSeries Specialist
