We are creating a session bean that will take messages off a queue via JMS and update DB2 with the data found in the message. We are running MQSeries v5.2 and WebSphere v3.5.4 on an NT Server. We anticipate that there will be messages that cannot be processed. Is there a way to have MQ automatically send the message, causing the rollback situation, to another queue? That is, without creating additional methods to send the problem message to another queue, set a flag in MQ to do this for you? _________________ Jim Schuchardt

i'm confused on what you are trying to do (Session bean reading message in a queue...what if the message is not available???...do you wait for the message?....MDBs maybe more suitable for what you are trying to do.)...
Anyways, there is no way to send problem message to another queue automa(g)ically!!! you have code this in your application. |

Thanks for your input. We have reached the same conclusion that you have (i.e. that routing a problem message to another queue must be done with custom application code).
To answer your earlier question, we have a mechanism in place to start Session Beans when a message arrives in a queue (a.k.a. Triggering, plus other custom infrastructure pieces). We were looking for a way to utilize MQ to route messages that cannot be processed by the Session Bean.
Thanks again.. _________________ Jim Schuchardt
