Hello -
As will be embarrasingly obvious, I'm very new to MQ as well as Workflow. I searching for some help with the MQ level configuration required to have my Workflow server communicate with a UPES, on which I'm currently only trying to running a single application. My test app, a single program step in my modeled Workflow process, runs fine if I start IBM's UPES framework on the same machine as my Workflow servers are on. It's getting the MQ channels, channel initiators, Q's, QM's, Listeners, etc. configured so I can communicate with the 2nd machine.
All of the IBM documentation that I've found is way too complicated for my simple case. Are there any documented examples that describe, for each server, how to configure the various objects ? For example:
- What queues (local & remote) are needed on each machine?
- What and how many channel types are needed ?
- How the TCP listening ports numbers need to be synch'ed ?
Maybe an old post to this forum ? Or a pointer to someone's cookbook ?
Thank you for your time & patience. _________________ Keep 'em in the short grass

I'd thought that workflow came with scripts or a program to set this up for you? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks all for the replies but can you be more specific about these Workflow default scripts ? I've run the 3 samples described in the Pgm'ing manual on a single system but these don't deal with MQ channels or anything related to system-system communication. I know that's probably transparent to Workflow but it's the MQ config that has me stumped.
What am I missing ?
Thanks _________________ Keep 'em in the short grass

Well, if you had asked this question in the workflow section, you'd be getting answers from people who actually know things about workflow.
Don't repost - hopefully a moderator will move this.
There's an fmcssomething something exe or etc. to create a workflow configuration/queue manager.
It should be clearly mentioned in the configuration/installation documentation on Workflow. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Folks -
Thanks for the tips. I found what I was looking for. An "MQSeries Primer", dated October 1999. I'm finally able to talk to my UPES.
