Hello, expterts,

I'm going to collect accounting&stats information of WMBv6 on AIX.
Is there anybody who's familiar with the cost and overhead of mqsichangeflowstats?

Many thanks in advance,
Yama

The cost to your message flow should be quite low, because most of the work is done by a separate asynchronous collector thread, which does its work as and when CPU conditions allow.

Thank you very much for your info.

BTW, according to a performance report of WMBv6 on AIX, I can see that one of the sections mentions overheads of Statistics&Trace on a messageflow like;
Quote:
Using Accounting and Statistics
This test consists of running a single copy of the Large Messaging sample with basic thread
level and advanced node level accounting activated.
Using a 1K message size there was an 8% reduction in message throughput. This is a CPU
overhead and reflects the additional cost of processing needed to collect the data.

8% reduction is much heavier than the one I was expecting.
Of course, this kind of number really depends on the situation and environment. But I'm not sure whether 8% is reasonable or not...

Try enabling it in your environment and see
