This position is located in the city of Chicago.
The Distributed Frameworks division of the Northern Trust is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team as a Senior Engineer on the Enterprise Application Integration team. The team is responsible for building, maintaining and deploying the EAI infrastructure (WebSphere MQ and Sun JCAPS) that support both internal and external applications. We are seeking a candidate who is passionate about their job and has both the technical expertise, experience, and drive to succeed.
High-level Job Duties:
• Provide technical input for middleware integration or messaging projects; including participating in research, requirements definition and delivery of messaging capabilities
• Provide project leadership and mentor junior level partners
• Develop and maintain application integration and messaging best practices documentation in division knowledge bases
• Document and/or maintain troubleshooting guides and support procedures
• Participate as a technical resource for relevant PMO projects and perform defined responsibilities
• Participate in code review sessions
• Participate in selection of tools, software, and upgrades
• Provide after hours firecall support
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
The ideal candidate would have engineering experience with an emphasis on Sun JavaCAPS, J2EE, application integration, messaging, Websphere MQ, and web services. Additionally, this candidate would also have experience leading development or support efforts, designing and developing infrastructure components, experience providing on-going maintenance/ production health support in a high availability, 24x7 environment. This is a fast-paced team and the successful candidate must be able to act with a sense of urgency. Qualified candidates must possess a strong sense of task ownership and will have strong analytical skills, excellent communication skills, proven technical abilities, and a can do attitude.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS - Skills Required:
• Four to five years administering and architecting complex WebSphere MQ solutions on unix/linux
• One to two years administering and architecting Sun JavaCAPS (JCAPS) or similar experience with one of the following:
• Websphere Message Broker
• WebSphere InterChange Server
• webMethods
• Additionally, experience in one or more of these areas is highly desirable:
• BMC Patrol
• Configuring WMQ and/or JCAPS in a Veritas cluster
J2EE, including JMS and EJB development
