I wonder if someone else at your company has had to do this before?
I wonder if your company's IT department has standard practices for how to do this? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Then I'm sure there are some manuals that talk about it. Like the zOS or MVS manuals...
So have fun reading...
Try a few things and if those do not work let us know what you tried, what the result was and maybe then we can direct you better...

Then push back on your management (I assume you have management as CICS tends to be commercial) and get some training.
Or find a different university to be a student at - this one's a little unsupervised! _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

my major is software engineering
IBM send my school a z/os system, saying that a lot of mf guys are going to retire and this field will become a blank since no one wanna learn about the big box and the old but wildly used mf tech...
then ,we got 4 teachers ,however, they are newcomer too...
mf is just a new baby in my country..so no tech support ,no manuals of my language...
all we have are a pcomm,a big box,and internet,of course, the IBM's references and guides ,all in english
you guys learned a second language? if so , i 'am sure you'll know how it feels and how long it takes to try to understand the technique books written in other language as well as you did when it was written in your mother tongue
asking Qs on forum is always my final trial .. |

You (in the school sense) are going to struggle learning mainframe without assistance. Very few parts of it are "double click" and I'd be surprised if support wasn't available to you someplace. I hesitate to speculate on any reasons why you might not wish to seek it out. In any event, learning it in this way will not equip you to fill this blank you speak of. The z/OS platform, where it's still used, supports mission critical business applications and no-one who doesn't trust anything less than z/OS will not trust anyone who's not IBM certified.

Forget technical skills, try going onto a site with no language support and asking where the toilet is. You just swim as best you can. As a Brit, this means everywhere outside the UK. And in my personal case, every Java site.
Bottom line - this forum is neither a training resource nor a CICS forum. We're certainly not equipted to train you in a subject as broad as CICS administration and programming.
I stand by this:
