Folks,
I faced an issue last week on one of the queue managers where we had the MaxUncommittedMsgs value set to 10,000. One Unit of work had a msg group of over 20,000 and the job pulling the messages was falling every time we hit the 10,000 uncomitted msg. Anyway , I went ahead and changed the value to 50,000 and things are running ok . My questions are :
1. Will making the value higher from 10K to 50K affect the performance in any way? What is the max on that attributes?
2. What other important attributes on the Queue Manager level I should revisit or change the default value on it to avoided similar issues in the future , last year I had a similar one with the max handeling?
Please advice
MQ V6 Windows Server 2003

The real question here is - why is the application keeping 20,000 msgs in a transaction?
Can it be configured to commit parts of the group?
Larger transactions means larger use of the log files by the application. This means less log space for other things - like channels. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Large numbers of message operations per commit are increasingly expensive per operation,
we recommend you stay within about 50 message operations per commit |
