Can I revise my vote? The "dark-on-dark" is almost unreadable on my works machine!

Let there be light!

(or at least more contrast!!!)

I hope you'll all be patient and give Cressida a chance to incorporate your feedback into the site. Unlike me they have the time and resources to be more responsive to user's requests. Given some time and revisions I'm sure we'll arrive at a UI that the majority of people are happy with.

Thanks for your patience!

I don't really like the new colour scheme either, it would be great to allow some of the phpBB styles, and maybe an option for the old colour scheme if thats what people want?

I find this one very hard to read the text, and seeing which forum areas have new messages is much harder with the topic icons, telling the difference between a circle with dark grey spots vs a circle with light grey spots isn't easy

I also don't like the way that java scrip follows the link when clicked on, whats wrong with just a normal HTML link? I like to use a key modified click to open in a new window / tab, and this new script means that the main window navigates to the forum area as well as opening it in a new tab.. which is a real pain!

an update on the subject:

a couple cressida people been sifting through a couple hundred available other template options all morning, 2 have been selected with light background, better contrasts, brighter looking fonts. These 2 are being worked on, should be available within the next 24 hours. Our aim is to offer choices via profile options (as asked for by the likes of Stephen, Bob, Roger,TGK, TGolding, Mark). Just give us a little time everyone.

ps: I know that look and feel is quite personal and most times in the eye of beholdr(s), so please give us a little time while we offer 2-3 user selectable template options.

I'll tell the lynch mob to go grab a coffee

Seriously, the rest of the board (what I can see of it!) does seem to work very well.

And a logo! We've never had a logo before! T-shirts anyone? Mouse mats? Mugs?

I can not read the site with the new color scheme. I hope we can either make some changes so the site is again readable, or maybe let users select the background colors.

Thanks

I like the new look and also add my vote to the "too dark background" pile.

However the dark background makes my avatar look like he's getting a serious amount of juice in his electric shock

I've also just noticed that I have to click the MQSeries.net logo/forums/repository links etc to activate the control before I can actually select forums/repository/whetever.

For a temporary solution - Firefox users can select View->Page Style->No Style

Not much better though

Thanks Ourtown... at least I can now read the site.

As you say, it is NOT a good permanent solution, but will work for a few days.

Sorry if I missed this above - but I was able to go into my profile and change the board style to DAJGlass (from zerospace).

Dare I say it has gone from crazy dark to crazy bright!! Almost blinding

They'll never make us all happy anyway...

I'll settle for being able to see how miserable I am!

Thanks for the tip

This has to be new within the last couple of hours.

I'd hold off making any real judgements until the Cressida team comes out with an announcement...

I did not mean to imply that this was the only solution in a "better than nothing" way, just that it avoids eye strain while the nice folks work on their grand plan.

This is a better solution for me than the Firefox solution mentioned above.

Thanks
