Hey All,

I'm just wondering how I can "re-configure" my MQ log file path ?

Currently I have 2 seperate HDD's. The F: contains the MQ installation, and the G: contains the Log Files (for the F: MQ install) ..

See the following diagram:

Can the 'log' directory (on the G: ) be moved to the F: MQ install directory ??

PS: I did not set the installation up this way..

If anyone knows how to perform this, or knows what rough steps would be required, I would be very appreciative

Thanks All

JD

unfortunately the link down the bottom of the linked thread is not available any more..

Recreate the qmgr? No but certainly stop it.
So have you tried the following and what was the outcome?
  1. stop qmgr and associated processes (listener etc...)
  2. backup the log files & windows registry if on windows
  3. move/cpy the log files associated with said stopped qmgr (linear or circular logs)
  4. update the qmgr's qm.ini file (windows registry) with the correct log path
  5. restart the qmgr

Try hamvmqm next time... Its supposedly only for MSCS support but all it really does is move the qmgr logs and data files from one place to another and resecure them

hey guys,

i tried the proposed approach, and no luck in the end..

After kicking on the qmgr and websphere processes the new log files were never written to ..

I might look into hamvmqm and see if this can help..

cheers..

If you are going to change the registry manually, make sure everything is stopped - especially amqmsrvn.exe (Net stop the service, make sure gui is stopped, make sure for certain amqmsrvn is ended in taskmgr - kill it if necessary).

Without that, an in memory copy of the log details is kept, and when the qmgr is launched it will use those rather than the registry ones.

Hamvmqm will do all that for you (including updating the in memory ones) as long as you are at a 'reasonable' maintenance level...
