I'm very new to Message Broker. I've got a client that nees to have thier instance patched. However, I don't know if they have Message Broker or Event Broker. So here is my question. How do I find out which instance of broker they have and which patch do I use. Here's what I got from pkginfo - Solaris 9.

application mqsiEv IBM WebSphere Business Integration Event Broker
application mqsiEvBc WBIEB Broker Component
application mqsiEvBf WBIEB Broker Feature
application mqsiEvCr WBIEB Core Component
application mqsiEvDB WBIEB ODBC Component
application mqsiEvJR WBIEB Product JRE Component
application mqsiEvLA WBIEB LA Component
application mqsiEvLUM WBIEB LUM Component
application mqsiEvLn WBIEB Links Component
application mqsiEvMr WBIEB Merant Component
application mqsiEvSG WBIEB Var Chmod Component
application mqsiEvSa WBIEB Samples Component
application mqsiEvUD WBIEB Var Component
application mqsiIb IBM WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker
application mqsiIbCo WBIMB Core Component
application mqsiIbIS WBIMB Integration Services Component
application mqsiIbLA WBIMB LA Component
application mqsiIbLUM WBIMB LUM Component
application mqsiIbMR WBIMB MRM Component
application mqsiIbSm WBIMB Samples Component

Thanks,
Rich

A) They should know if they're running Message Broker or Event Broker
B) That list shows "Message Broker"
C) The FPs usually will tell you if they're for the wrong thing
D) I hope they also have a plan for upgrading to version 6 in the next year.

Thanks for your help. I know they should know but if hey hire a new managed service provider, typically that kind of information gets "lost in translation."

In the list, there is an entry for both Event Broker and Message Broker. Based on the list of components is how you tell which one is installed? Why would it show both Event and Message Broker?

Message Broker has always included Event Broker.

It would not show Message Broker if only Event Broker were installed.

If they allow that kind of basic systems documentation to get lost during employee transition, then they are not implementing basic business controls.
