Hi All,

What is the best way i can upgrade my WMQ from V5.x to V6.x.

What i can see from the IBM help is:
Uninstall WebSphere MQ and any WebSphere MQ service updates.

But is there any other way of doing the same.

Regards
Manoj

Hi

1. You can un-install the previous product and services (Best option according to me)

or

2. You can directly install over the previous one

Thanks and Regards

What platform? Don't forget that the uninstall does not touch the data ( /var/mqm) on Unix platforms so there is no proble in uninstalling. AIX can upgrade in place, the installers on the other platforms will object.

Only for AIX. Other Unix require uninstallation first.

If you're unhappy about the assertion that /var/mqm is unchanged (which is true), use saveqmgr or similar to preserve your object definitions.

Or take a system backup first.
